Adekola Adedapo, who performs under her first name, has been a fixture of Milwaukee's jazz scene since the late 1970's. She has worked with Chicago and Milwaukee’s finest musicians including Mel Rhyne, Von Freeman, Berkeley Fudge, Frank Morgan and Juli Wood. Adekola’s compact disc “Ose Meji” (It’s All About Love) garnered international attention for it’s unique mix of bebop, blues, jazz standards, and traditional African chants. In 2001, Adekola was named Female Vocalist of the Year” by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry.
Appearing with Adekola are Mark Thierfelder – piano, John Price – bass, Scott Napoli - drums/percussion, and Berkeley Fudge – saxophone.
Electrifying blues guitarist Walter Trout and his band. Former member of Canned Heat. Labelled by the LA Times as "A true gladiator of blues guitar".
"People ask me if they should call my music blues or rock, I tell them they can call it 'Fred' if they must have a label."
That remark, along with the exclamation that "the blues shouldn't be a museum... the music ought to constantly expand and be alive," have been expressed again and again by Walter Trout during his 35+ year career. With the release of FULL CIRCLE, the statements hold true as Trout and his musical friends demonstrate their appreciation of all shades of the blues genre. The album reflects Walter Trout's remarkable story, from his humble beginnings as a sideman in many a blues legends' band through his rising solo star, arriving as one of blues music's beloved interpreters.
Local act, The Roadless is comprised of brothers John and Rich Washam, Noel McDonald, and Jon Sorensen. Their Myspace page lists influences ranging from Stone Temple Pilots to Earth Wind & Fire, to Your Mother. It's for you, the fan, do decide whether that latter influence is the San Fransisco area's disbanded Punk outfit or truly an homage to other people's moms in general. To us, this range of influences points toward a band that believes in its unique sound and can't wait to perform in front of the crowds.
This show will be the last Quad Cities performance for an undetermined amount of time as they will soon thereafter relocate to Chicago. We promise they'll return to the Redstone Room!
Back by popular demand is Blind Melon! They hit up the Redstone Room in March and played a sold out show on their first tour back together after a twelve year hiatus. They rocked it once and they had so much fun here that they have decided to return to the Redstone Room on their summer tour.
In recent years, the tale of Blind Melon has taken a dramatic turn - from an abrupt and tragic end, to a rebirth and reconnection with their legion of fans. No matter how you slice it, the group was responsible for some of the most memorable and pure-sounding rock music of the '90s. And with their reformation in 2006 with singer Travis Warren, Blind Melon are poised to pick up exactly where they left off a decade earlier – as evidenced by their new single, "Wishing Well," and forth full length album, "For My Friends".
Since the bands' return they have played a slew of shows and festivals all over the US, making it well known that they are back with a new lead vocalist, a new album, and an ever-growing sea of new fans. Blind Melon has played for crowds that seem to keep growing since they were last here in March, so we are honored that they liked the Redstone Room enough to play a second intimate show here within the year.
Those of you who waited too long to get your tickets for our March show - don't make the same mistake twice because they will sell out again! Tickets go on sale to RME members on Saturday, June 7 and to the general public on Saturday, June 14th. To find out how to become a RME member and receive advanced ticket sales, visit www.rivermusicexperience.org.

William Morris will be promoting Flash Cassidy all over the country as the featured artist on the 2008 Summer SlamDown Tour.
Orquesta de Jazz y Salsa Alto Maiz is something of a musical enigma. It is a popular eleven-piece Latin-jazz-dance band made up of musicians now living in the "heartland" of America. The Latin tinged music they perform, usually found in the clubs of New York City, L.A. or Miami, has secured them a reputation as one of the hottest bands in the Midwest.
Regardless of age group or musical preferences, Orquesta Alto Maiz strikes a common chord with its audience. Once exposed to this vibrant, pulsating music, people find it so irresistible their feet won't keep still! Audience participation (dancing, singing) is encouraged. And remember, dancing is good for you and dancing like no one is watching is even better. Once you experience them you will never forget them, Orquesta Alto Maiz, "The Salsa Band".
ALTERNATIVE/ROCK. Power chords and melody have always been a rock music staple, and the QC's own Head Held High feels very comfortable giving the audience plenty of it. Since slimming down to a trio, the band has explored a straight ahead style that will leave you wanting more from their extensive catalog of original music. Head Held High's debut full length CD, "Moments That Make Us," is a must listen for any rock music fan, local or otherwise. They've been classified as alt. rock, pop rock, and even "muscular emo," but the band doesn't need sub genres to stand out. You'll hear all kinds of influences from nerd rock to pop rock to hard rock and beyond.

Upon The Awakening / August Zimbal / Beneath the Villa Bella
METAL / HARDCORE
Upon The Awakening was formed after members from Fit To Kill, Mike, Neil & Chad decided to start a new project. Teamed up with good friend & bassist Lyndon & vocalist Adrian formally from Project Menace, Upon The Awakening is simply in your face Thrash Metal that refuses to fail.
From the 'City of Lakes' (Minneapolis, Minnesota) far, far away comes a surprisingly weird and wonderful musical heritage, both eclectic and indispensable, Bob Dylan, Prince, Babes In Toyland - to name but a few.
Present day, the legacy continues with the new wave of obscenely talented whipper-snappers forming, making beautiful music and breaking-out, on the brink of spreading their talents Worldwide. I talk, of course, of none other than Tapes 'n Tapes, highlights of this year's SXSW festival, (nine packed-out, fun-filled gigs in four days and a whole lot of love from MTV, Radio 1, Music Week, NME, Rolling Stone and the New York Times, who joyously claimed, "Tapes 'n Tapes were rhapsodic:). Hail Tapes 'n Tapes, the new indie hopes and music's future mavericks.
It seems the World is calling out for "left-of-centre, experimental indie" (NME), something "as loveable as it is bewildering" (Rolling Stone) and something that touches on our heroes, the basement indie of Pavement, the eclecticism of Talking Heads and frenzied power of the Pixies, but offers not some populist pastiche, but instead a vital, thrilling and unique blast of energy and melody like nothing you have ever heard before.
...That is tapes 'n tapes.

Three Years Hollow - CD Release
Ascension, the much anticipated release from Quad Cities' own Three Years Hollow, will be thrust onto the market via none other stage than the Redstone Room.
In an increasingly crowded genre, 3YH distinguishes themself with an innate ability to throw in unexpected pauses and implement creative time signature changes right when you least expect it. Their unique blend of unusual rhythms and heavy riffing is what makes their music interesting enough to make you want to hit the play button again.
With thick, heavy grooves and melodic anthems it's hard to say who this band is influenced by. They seem to have taken a little something from everything and created a sound that is inherently theirs.
SINGER / SONGWRITER / FOLK ROCK
An Evening with Joe Purdy, Meiko, Jay Nash and Chris Seefried of the Low Stars. $2 per Artist!!
JOE PURDY:
By cultivating a worldwide audience, gaining commercial recognition, and selling his music direct to fans, Joe has positioned himself at the forefront of a new movement of successful independent artists who prefer an organic/ grassroots approach to building a career. Purdy's catalog of music has sold over 580,000 single downloads worldwide and has been featured six times on Grey's Anatomy along with placements on House, Lost and most recently a major KIA ad campaign ("Can't Get It Right Today").
MEIKO:
Her self-released, self-titled debut album recently reached #35 on iTunes Top 100 Albums chart, and was the #1 Folk Album on iTunes, totaling well over 200,000 downloads and netting her their "Indie Spotlight" as well as placement on their "Best of 2007" feature. Meiko's songs have been in regular rotation on KCRW’s "Morning Becomes Eclectic" and the nationally-syndicated "Sounds Eclectic". Even people who haven’t seen her perform or downloaded her songs are hearing her music and being blown away thanks to prime positioning in TV shows like "Grey’s Anatomy", "Kyle XY" and the new CBS series "Moonlight".
Not bad for a girl who got her first guitar for Christmas from her dad who not only taught her how to play it well, but how to play it for the joy it brings. "It’s definitely therapy. That’s the only reason I do it. I feel like I can take a bad or sad situation and put it in a three-minute song, and feel like I turned it into a positive thing."
JAY NASH:
Recorded his upcoming release, The Things You Think You Need, at Phantom Vox Studios in Los Angeles during October and November 2007 with producer Chris Seefried (Low Stars). The album features a special guest appearance by longtime friend and Epic recording artist Sara Bareilles, as well as David Immergluck and Charlie Gillingham of the Counting Crows, among others. The album was released independently on iTunes on
May 20. With front page real estate on the iTunes Music Store, the album reached #22 on the iTunes Rock album chart, the only independent album in the top 100!
CHRIS SEEFRIED:
In between making records and touring as Rosanne Cash's guitar player, Chris has scored numerous films and commercials. His music has also appeared in countless television shows. Chris wrote and performed the song "You All Everybody" for the hit ABC television series "Lost" and the theme song for ABC television series "What about Brian". This song "Calling All Friends" is featured on the Low Stars debut which was released on Hear Music through Starbucks in February of 2007.
The Redstone Room is proud to host The Legendary Rhythm & Blues Revue featuring The Tommy Castro Band, Bernard Allison, Magic Dick, and Deanna Bogart on August 29th!
TOMMY CASTRO is one of the most popular and creative roots artists to emerge in recent years. On his newest CD, Painkiller, Castro teamed up with producer John Porter, renowned for his work with a Who's Who list of artists such as Los Lonely Boys, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Santana, B.B. King, Elvis Costello, and Buddy Guy. Said Castro, "When I started looking for a producer, I realized that John had produced some of my favorite records of the last ten years. After working with him in the studio, I understand now why that is. With John, everything just seems to be right, all the parts work and flow together."
Everything indeed just seems right on Painkiller. With the Tommy Castro Band (rhythm mainstay Randy McDonald on bass, saxophonist extraordinaire Keith Crossan, and drummer Chris Sandoval) - anchoring the sessions, Porter has fashioned a most tasteful album from the many talented parts of Castro's patented rock 'n' soul music. Special guests Coco Montoya, Angela Strehli, David Maxwell, and Teresa James join in the fun.
Since he first started the Tommy Castro Band sixteen years ago, Tommy's career has been marked by one triumph after another. He's gone from performing at a tiny San Francisco saloon to opening act on B.B. King's national tours and international acclaim as one of the most compelling artists on the scene. Not surprising, given his innate charisma and skills as a supremely talented guitarist, gifted vocalist, and engaging songwriter.
In addition to the Tommy Castro Band performing, other blues artists Bernard Allison, Magic Dick, and Deanna Bogart will perform. Tickets go on sale to RME member on June 2 and to the general public on June 16th. BLUES/ROCK.
For some musicians, it all comes down to what happens on stage. Anthony Gomes burns with blazing vocals and incendiary guitar work throughout "Live", his first full length concert release - which is noteworthy considering he plays over 250 live performances a year.
Fusing blues-rock, soul, and gritty R&B for the past decade, "Live" is a combination of where he's been and where he's headed. Anthony has had passion for music since receiving his first guitar, and that becomes obvious during his live performances.
Tickets go on sale to RME members on sale on August 1, and are open to the general public on August 15th. To become an RME member and receive advanced ticket sales, visit www.rivermusicexperience.org.
FOLK/ROCK/COUNTRY.
Guy Forsyth (vocals, guitar, harmonica, ukulele, singing saw) - along with Will Landin (bass/tuba) and Rob Hooper (drums/cajon), bring a unique mixture of styles together, including folk, rock, country, and Tin Pan Alley, to create a sound that is as heterogeneous, raw and compelling as America itself. You'll hear powerhouse vocals deliver energetic yarns about love, the government, and the apocalypse (just to name a few), as this band hammers out set lists without barely coming up for air.
Guy Forsyth has been applauded by critics and has won numerous Austin Music Awards over the years, especially for his powerful and unique voice. Don't miss your chance to see him up close and personal at the Redstone Room for only $8.00!
Tickets go on sale to RME Members on August 4, and to the general public on August 18th.
